The Sturbridge Road Race was on Saturday and consisted of a 7 mile lap with a few hills. Coming off a win last weekend in Western New York, the team was anxious to see what it could do against the New England competition. The first two laps were fairly quiet with the peloton feeling out the course. At the start of the third lap, Team Terry lit up the action with an attack across the start finish stretch. This woke up the peloton and the girls in pink were off to a fast and eventful rest of the race. There is no physiological reason for any master athlete who has been riding for at least 5 years* and whose longest race is 40 km/25 miles (about 1:0) to be out for 40-50 miles (3-4 hours). More times than not, the limiter is not endurance but rather muscular endurance and anaerobic fitness.
